tottenham could find villa difficult to master

spurs have been impressive at home, but could find aston villa difficult to break down

Tottenham are hot favourites to beat Aston Villa at White Hart Lane on Monday night – and it is not difficult to see why.

Harry Redknapp’s side have been impressive so far this season, particularly at home where only all-conquering leaders, Man City, have sullied what would have been a 100 per cent record.

They will be looking to go third at home on Monday night against an Aston Villa side that are the only side in the top half of the table yet to win on their travels.

That said, despite Spurs averaging 2.5 goals a game at White Hart Lane, the scoreline is likely to be much closer than many believe.

Aston Villa are a dour side – the exact personality of their Scottish manager Alex McLeish, and they don’t give up that easily. So far, on their travels, they may not have won but they have managed four draws out of five, and only Manchester City have managed to break them down.

One wonders whether Spurs, who don’t know how to win ugly, will get frustrated at McLeish’s tactics.

If they do, this one has minimum draw, maximum Villa win.

Either way, there won’t be many goals in it.

Tips

2pts less than 2.5 goals at 7/5 (2.4 at WBX)

1pt 0-0 draw at 16/1 (17.0 generally available)

4pts Aston +1.25 on the Asian Handicap at 4/5 (1.8 at Victor Chandler)
