english leagues tips: february 9 2010
Tuesday February 9 2010

Championship

Treble: Cardiff 2-0 Peterborough; West Brom 2-0 Scunthorpe; Boro 2-1 Barnsley
KO: all 7.45pm (GMT) except Boro at 8pm (GMT)
Venue: various
Verdict:
The pile up of fixtures will only aide those clubs with big squads and big resources, and these three should all take advantage of midweek home ties against smaller opposition.
Advice: 3pts treble Cardiff, West Brom and Middlesbrough all to win at 4.2857 (generally)

League One
Brighton 0-0 Huddersfield
KO: 7.45pm (GMT)
Venue: Withdean Stadium
Verdict:
Expect Huddersfield to dust themselves down and grab a narrow win at the Withdean Stadium where Brighton have had a shocker this season.
A frustrating draw at home against Carlisle at the weekend saw the Terriers slip further behind the running for a play-off place. But they are not playing poorly enough to panic just yet.
Advice: 3pts Huddersfield to win at 6/4 (2.5 at William Hill)

League Two
Bournemouth 2-1 Notts County
KO: 7.45pm (GMT)
Venue: Fitness First Stadium
Verdict:
This is the battle between the haves and the have nots, and expects the haves, Notts County to just pip this at a very tempting price.
Bournemouth struggled against a very poor Cheltenham side last time out at the Fitness First Stadium and, while County themselves made a meal of beating Grimsby at the weekend, they should win this to step back into the automatic promotion fray.
Advice: 2pts Notts County to win at 6/4 (2.5 generally)

Shrewsbury 2-0 Barnet
KO: 7.45pm (GMT)
Venue: Prostar Stadium
Verdict:
While there has been some improvement at Barnet, they are still far too erratic to be considered genuine play-off contenders - and their hit and miss have probably left them too far back (13pts off 7th).
And anyway, we are on a pattern of backing Shrewsbury, who I still believe are live contenders for automatic promotion.
Advice: 2pts Shrewsbury to win at 4/5 (1.8 at William Hill)
