Championship
Coventry 1-0 QPR
KO: 3pm (GMT)
Venue: Ricoh Arena
Verdict: This may seem a little bit of a strange one, but I can see rundown QPR snatching an away win here. Everyone in the Championship is queuing up to play QPR who are on a dreadful run of form and seemingly imploding with internal strife. But after a dismal first half against Ipswich, they showed the kind of form that took them up as high as fourth in the table earlier in the season and should have at least snatched a draw. Coventry, meanwhile, nothing other than an ordinary side and, if the real QPR turn up should be cast aside. So, there is an awfully large amount of value in the 5/2 or therabouts on offer.
Advice: 3pts QPR to win at 5/2 (3.5 generally)
Double: Swansea 1-1 Newcastle; Doncaster 1-0 Nottingham Forest;
KO: 3pm (GMT)
Venue: various
Verdict: Two unlikely defeats for these two highflying teams should be ignored in the reckoning this weekend. Expect them both to grab vital away wins to keep them in the hunt for the automatic places.
Both good prices, too!
Advice: 2pts double Newcastle and Forest both to win at 6.9 (generally)
League One
Brighton 1-2 Norwich
KO: 3pm (GMT)
Venue: Withdean Stadium
Verdict: There was a small corner of the press in the last few weeks suggesting that Norwich may have run out of steam. Granted a loss away to Millwall was not on the cards, but it wasn't the kind of result to derail a side playing as well as the Canaries. Now a trip to the coast will be the perfect tonic for a team still more than likely to win the title.
Advice: 3pts Norwich to win at 10/11 (1.91 generally)
League Two
Barnet 1-1 Cheltenham
KO: 3pm (GMT)
Venue: Underhill
Verdict: Erratic Barnet may be, but they are also talented (to some extent at this level) and should have the beating of a Cheltenham side that has been dropping like a stone towards the league exit door.
Advice: 2pts Barnet to win at 11/10 (2.1 generally)
Bradford 0-0 Grimsby
KO: 3pm (GMT)
Venue: Valley Parade
Verdict: I cannot believe the price on Bradford to gran their first win in the post-McCall era. You ask any Bradford fan (and I know quite a few) and they will tell you that the fundamental problem with the club this season has been with the manager - and the manager only. Now that the manager has departed it is more than probable that Bradford will start playing the title contenders they should have been. And to be playing the worst team in the leagues on this auspicious day and for the bookies to be so generous...it's a gift, I tell you.
Advice: 6pts Bradford to win at 10/11 (1.91 at Bet365, totesport, Betfred)
