Championship
Fixture: West Bromwich Albion 2-0 Ipswich
Venue: Hawthorns (WBA home)
Kick-off: 5.20pm BST (Sat)
Verdict: Well, it's certainly not the TV cameras - because Ipswich have already lost at Coventry in front of the TV.
And it can't be their recent form because that is absolutely awful.
Are you trying to tell me that the bookies are pushing Ipswich's price in on the back of Roy Keane's reputation?
West Brom champions in waiting are barely odds on against an Ipswich side that was abject against Coventry first game of the season, and then pitiful against Leicester at home, and woeful in being stuffed by Crystal Palace's babies.
I'm struggling to see the catch. Will someone enlighten me?
Betting Advice: 5pts WBA to win at 4/5 (1.8 at Betfred and Paddy Power)
Fixture: Derby 2-1 Plymouth
Venue: Pride Park (Derby home)
Kick-off: 3pm BST (Sat)
Verdict: They look a sorry state of affairs, so far this season, do Plymouth, which makes for backing against them away from home.
The new money being pumped into the club should make a difference in the long run, but already the emphasis is on survival this season, with consolidation in the next.
It is worth noting that it is an undisclosed amount of Japanese money with the aim of making the Premier League in five years. There are currently 16 clubs in the Championship promising to be in the Premier League in the next five years. Unless its 20-up, 20-down in 2014, it's not going to happen.
Derby, meanwhile, haven't started as well as one might expect, but they came out of two tough away trips with a point and can be expected to build on that.
Betting Advice: 2pts Derby to win at 17/20 (1.85 at Paddy Power)
Fixture: Cardiff 3-0 Bristol City
Venue: Ninian Park (Cardiff home)
Kick-off: 1.15pm BST (Sun)
Verdict: Despite an excellent start to the season, I am not convinced by Bristol City.
They were incredibly lucky to get the win against Crystal Palace who had a perfectly good goal scrubbed off (it hit the back of the net).
They were much better against QPR, and got the rub of the green, which is what you need sometimes.
However, Cardiff have started off like a rocket. They are enjoying playing in their new stadium and will be wanting to beat local rivals in the new ground at the first attempt.
Betting Advice: 2pts Cardiff to win at 10/11 (1.91 generally)
League One
Fixture: Bristol Rovers 1-0 Huddersfield
Venue: Memorial Stadium (Rovers home)
Kick-off: 3pm BST
Verdict: Bristol Rovers will have a decent enough season of that I can be sure but it could be a case of men against boys on Saturday against Huddersfield.
The Terriers will be winners of this league I'll keep saying it until everyone believes me and have started the season in almost perfect fashion: following up a commendable away draw with a 7-1 thrashing of Brighton.
Rovers lost their first game at home but then went on a three-game winning road trip, which included the Carling Cup trip to Aldershot.
Stockport and Hartlepool, their other two victims, are mid-table at best, so expect Huddersfield to boss this game and come out winners.
Betting Advice: 2pts Huddersfield to win at 13/8 (2.63 at Betfred)
