French Ligue 1 Orange
Treble: Lyon 2-0 Nice; Le Mans P-P Bordeaux (Sun); PSG 0-3 Marseille (Sun)
KO: first game 6pm (GMT) on Saturday (Lyon)
Venue: various
Verdict: Time to batten down the hatches, we are going for an almost 6/1 treble in the French leagues because, well, we are making a statement about how the league is going to go. Leaders Bordeaux are playing away, but they are streets ahead of Le Mans and returned to form in the Champions League in midweek, so they are a good pick.
Meanwhile, Lyon are everyone's certainty after a run up the table. There should be few problems with them beating Nice at home.
The trickiest pick is Marseille away to Paris St-Germain in Paris on Sunday. They are a big price, and this treble is effectively a single on them, but they are still my tips for the title - and PSG have not been that difficult to overcome at home this season.
Advice: 2pts treble Lyon (4/11), Bordeaux (5/6) and Marseille (7/4) all to win at about 6.88 (generally)
German Bundesliga
Double: Bayer Leverkusen 0-0 FC Koln; Bayern Munich 1-0 Hamburg (Sun)
KO: 4.30pm (GMT)
Venue: Weserstadion
Verdict: This weekend is multiples weekend as we search for the right combinations in the eternal pursuit of value.
Bayer Leverkusen continue to be unbeaten this season, and with the way they are playing it is almost impossible to see Koln bother them in any way - the bookies are well aware of that, though.
Meanwhile on Sunday, Bayern Munich are a slightly better price to win against Hamburg. Their draw last week against Nuremberg should be seen for exactly what it was - a minor blip. Both these teams should win handily.
Advice: 5pts double Bayer Leverkusen (2/5) and Bayern Munich (1/2) to win at about 2.1 (generally)
Spanish La Liga
Getafe 0-2 Real Zaragoza
KO: 5pm (GMT)
Venue: Coliseum Alfonso Perez
Verdict: A troubling season for Zaragoza got worse this week with the realisation that Jermaine Pennant is pretty much on his way out of the club after failing to really settle in Spain.
The former Liverpool striker has missed training three times in the last three weeks and won't play in a game Real must win.
They won't against a Getafe side that looked back close to their best in a narrow defeat away at Valencia last weekend.
Advice: 4pts Getafe to win at 10/11 (1.91 generally)
Sunday February 28, 2010
Italian Serie A
Udinese 2-3 Internazionale
KO: 2pm (GMT)
Venue: Friuli
Verdict: New Udinese coach Pasquale Marino may have got off to the perfect start against high-flying Cagliari last week, but it was hairy stuff and it is difficult to see stuggling Udinese make a dent in Inter's title hopes.
Despite a tough, but ultimately rewarding, Champions League tie at home to Chelsea, Inter should be fresh for the fight and are in good form on their travels having not been beaten since the beginning of December.
Advice: 1pt Inter Milan to win at 6/5 (2.2 at expekt.com)
