Saturday
Fixture: Arsenal 4-1 Portsmouth
Venue: Emirates Stadium (Arsenal home)
Kick-off: 3pm BST
Verdict: Last week we gave you a 9/1 and a 12/1 shot with my new system. Only one match matches the criteria for the new system this week - and that's this one at the Emirates Stadium. It always looks strange when you put it on, like "am I mad?". But, believe me, it works.
Betting Advice: 1pt each of the following: Arsenal to win 1-0 at 15/2 (8.5 at Skybet); 2-0 at 11/2 (6.5 generally); 2-1 at 10/1 (11.0 at extrabet); and 3-1 at 12/1 (13.0 at extrabet)
Fixture: Sunderland 2-1 Blackburn
Venue: Stadium of (ahem!) Light (Sunderland home)
Kick-off: 3pm BST
Verdict: While most of the relegation talk so far this season has been about Portsmouth and Burnley (a little less now) and Hull (which won't change), little has been said about Blackburn.
And it should.
While Sam Allardyce has made a reputation for himself as a survivor, the world may have moved on a little during his time at Newcastle and subsequent sabbatical. His latest signing Michel Salgado, the 33-year-old former Real Madrid and Spain right-back is a trademark move for a man who has gained a reputation for prospering with experienced players.
However, that tactic is a failure now, as the fitness levels required to compete in the Premier League mean youth is not just key but paramount.
Subsequently, Blackburn have a scoring problem (three goalless on the spin) and will need to improve in front of goal if they are to take anything away from Sunderland, who are an attacking outfit that will score at home (only failed to score six times at home last season).
Betting Advice: 1pt Sunderland to win at 11/10 (2.1 generally)
Sunday
Fixture: Fulham 0-2 Chelsea
Venue: Craven Cottage (Fulham home)
Kick-off: 4pm BST
Verdict: Man Utd have already lost their unbeaten tag, as have Liverpool - and we've only had one-and-a-half rounds of the Premier League this season. What price Chelsea's unbeaten tag to go this weekend? Well, 6/1 actually. Fulham are a Europa League participant this season after a very impressive end to last campaign where they beat Aston Villa and champions Man Utd. Chelsea have had the Indian Sign over their neighbours for quite some time now and, in the run of things, that's not going to change.
But there are possibilities for a bloody noise on Sunday.
Betting Advice: 1pt Fulham to win at 6/1 (7.0 generally)
Fixture: West Ham 1-2 Tottenham
Venue: Upton Park (West Ham home)
Kick-off: 1.30pm BST
Verdict: There is no doubt that the bookies are marking up West Ham on reputation rather than reality. This is a very weak West Ham squad and one that comes up against perhaps the most prolific of the Premier League's front lines. Jermain Defoe is finally showing all his form. They have two lightning quick wingers, and an England international on the bench in Peter Crouch. This is a steal at 6/4. And most West Ham fans I've spoken to agree.
Betting Advice: 4pts Tottenham to win at 6/4 (2.5 at Betfred and totesport)
THE NO BETS
Saturday
Birmingham look better than most people gave them credit for, and I certainly don't have them down as relegation candidates. Stoke will continue to sneak the odd win, but will it be enough?
Res: 0-0
Hull are pretty doomed this season, but Bolton are not the most bankable of opposition. Avoid.
Res: 1-0
Man City have started well enough but I am seeing no value in them. Wolves may cause a shock here.
Res: 1-0
Wigan can cause a shock here, too. If they do, the world will be rocked off its feet and the Premier League will be set alight. Man Utd losing two on the spin to lowly opposition?. Get out the bunting!
Res: 0-5
Sunday
Burnley will be on a high, but they might come crashing down to earth with a bump against Everton who are looking for revenge on someone - anyone
Res: 1-0
Monday
Liverpool appear back to their best. I am still looking at Aston Villa, so no bet here
Res: 1-3
