world cup 2010 south africa

June 12 match betting

South Korea 2-0 Greece

This is the game that every pundit was hoping not to have to tip on - South Korea have had fits and starts, and have never won outside Asia, while Greece are getting progressively defensive.
The bookies are convinced that this will be a low scorer (1/2 for less than 2.5 goals) but there are arguments to suggest they are wrong.
Both teams will know, with Argentina and Nigeria to come, that they must win this game to qualify. That will make the Greeks surprisingly attack-minded - while the South Koreans will go for it.
Tip: 1pt more than 2.5 goals at 2/1 (3.0 at William Hill and betfair)

Argentina 1-0 Nigeria

The price on Argentina is not very good, but Nigeria are a beaten side once they go behind, and it is very difficult with the amount of striking talent on offer, that they will not go behind.
However, with South Africa in the first game, the surroundings might buoy the inferior African side. I expect this to be a very open, exciting affair - so expect goals.
Tip: 2pts more than 2.5 goals at Evens (2.0 generally)

England 1-1 USA

England have a patchy history getting through the qualifying group. When they got through to the semi-final in 1986, it took a last game win against Poland to make it through to the latter stages, 2002 was made trickier with a draw in the opening game against Sweden, while in 1998 they needed to beat the Colombians in their final game.
It's never easy to get out of the group stages. While some teams seem to breeze through the first three games, others say it is just important to qualify - the real stuff happens in the latter stages.
USA are, arguably, England's toughest opponents, and Fabio Capello will be aware that getting through this game intact will take the pressure off getting a result in the last two games against Slovenia and Algeria.
The other aspect is that USA are a tough team to beat, they attack quickly and work very hard. However, if you go behind to them there is that weak central defensive pairing.
Meanwhile, the bookies odds are skewed because of the patriotic bet on England.
Our best bet is a small outlay on the draw, which will be no disaster for England as they play their way into the tournament.
Tip: 1pt draw at 10/3 (4.33 generally)
